Clear and Concise Focus Lesson

K-5 Literacy Connections blog they have a video on focus lesson. This video demonstrates a 5-7 minute lesson on summarizing beginning, middle and end of a story. Notice how clear and concise she is with her language. She has read this story to her students several times so they are experienced with it. Then she models how to summarize beginning, middle and end. Focus Lesson

You've given the test, now what?

Here is a simple way to organize your assessment information. This teacher uses DRA instead of Fountas and Pinnell. They are the same type of assessment. I like the idea of using 3x5 cards to sort students. You can also use The Strategy Group Form from The 2 Sisters as a substitute for the organizer they have on this site ~  Conversations in Literacy Blog.

Anchor charts

Happy Friday everyone. If you've ever been on Pinterest then you know how many ideas you can get from it. This blog I found on Pinterest. I contains a few anchor charts I like. I was thinking of those teachers who are trying to get word work up and running. This post has an anchor chart for word work and a word work activity that you might like. (We might have clear tiles in this building.)  http://goo.gl/K97u8u
